Better than treasures brought from Rome
Are the living pictures I see at home -
My aged father, with frosted hair,
And mother's face like a painting rare
Far from the city's dust and heat,
I get but sounds and odours sweet.
Who can wonder I love to stay,
Week after week, here hidden away,
In this sly nook that I love the best -
The little brown house, like a ground-bird's nest?

~Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919)
excerpt from the poem 'My Home'

The historic farming property, Gulf Station, just a short drive to the north of Yarra Glen in the beautiful Yarra Valley (Victoria, Australia). This homestead has such a wonderful energy about it. I always get the warmest, strangest, fuzziest feelings whenever I visit. I so love this old place. Gulf Station is in the care of the National Trusts of Australia.
