Originally a North Queensland native, I am a Melbourne-based, self-taught, fine art photographer with a passion for the past. I have a particular love of working with textures and colour to create imagery that has a very 'old-world', 'painterly' look and feel. My own personal reflections of bygone eras.
In my previous life, I was a desktop publisher. For many years, I have either worked alongside or within the printing industry, in one capacity or another. But I've given that away to follow my dream and concentrate on my photography. There's a part of me that will always miss the printing industry, and I’m very grateful for the years of skills and experience it has given me.
My subject matter reflects the things I am most passionate about. I have a deep love of all things old, of animals, nature, spirituality and metaphysics. As the insightful and gifted William Shakespeare once wrote: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
I love exploring antique stores, old churches and cemeteries, walking in the rain, watching old movies, listening to old music, snuggling up in front of a winter fireplace, the earthy colours & gentle energies of Autumn, country drives, picnics, vintage cars, motorsports, pretty much anything and everything to do with chocolate! And, of course, my camera...
‘Fine Art’ Galleries
A great deal of time and work has gone into putting these galleries together - but it's been a labour of love. Sometimes, I will spend a great deal of time on each photograph or series, trying to find that one combination of image, colour and texture that perfectly fits the mood I’m attempting to convey, recapturing the essence of times long past. At other times, it happens almost instantaneously - as if someone else is directing the work. And I am merely the instrument through which it flows. It just seems to 'happen' at those times. With little or no thought on my part. Certainly, much of my more recent work has come about in this way. Or maybe I've just become more aware.
Most of my work is digital, although the 'Memory Lane' series originated from film work done while I was living the UK, way back in 1989-1990. At some point, I'm intending on doing more film work - and one of these days, I'm actually going to get myself that Polaroid I've been threatening to buy.
‘Charitable Art’ Galleries
One of my driving forces is to find different ways to use my art to benefit worthwhile causes. To that end, I am setting up a separate ‘Charitable Art’ collection, which will in due course, be for sale. All of the proceeds from the sale of these artworks will be donated to charity.
This portfolio is a work in progress, and I will be adding plenty of new work to the collection, so please check back from time to time.
Thank you to anyone who purchases my art. I sincerely hope that it gives you even half as much pleasure as I take in the many hours I spend, either wandering around the countryside with camera in hand, or playing in my digital darkroom, creating it.
Anyway, thanks stopping by, and I certainly hope that you enjoy your browse through my galleries.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to hear from you!
cheers
Tracy
