“There is no more thrilling sensation I know of than sailing. It comes as near to flying as man has got to yet - except in dreams.”

~Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927), Three Men in a Boat

I never tire of shooting this beautiful city. No matter your preference for subject matter, there's never a reason to be bored photographing in Melbourne. There are endless opportunities for finding your next subject. As a photographer - it's a pretty great place to live. In fact, its just a pretty great place to live, full stop. I've been here a long time now, and whilst my heart is pulling me in the direction of the Macedon Ranges area, I will always have very strong ties with this city.

This is a series of images taken from the Williamstown foreshore early last month. I couldn't help but notice the beautiful, big, white fluffy clouds that formed as a perfect backdrop behind the CBD whilst I was shooting from Ferguson Street Pier. I originally drove across to Williamstown to indulge my relatively new passion for long exposure photography - and ended deleting all of those shots. Instead, I ended with this series.

As it grew darker, the fog began to roll in very quickly. At first, it covered just the tops of the tallest buildings in the city, but by the time it was almost completely dark, and I had walked out onto the end of Gem Pier, the city skyline had completely disappeared behind a heavy wall of fog. It was beautiful! The Docklands area was lit up and glowing bright orange. After I'd done with the camera, I grabbed my iPhone and starting shooting around the pier with that (I will be uploading some of those shots to the iOS Devices gallery shortly).
