This darling little white weatherboard church is home to Small Holdings Cafe in Malmsbury, in Central Victoria. I was here for brunch in early June, where I met the new owner, David, for the very first time. It would be fair to say that I fell instantly in love with this cute little church from the moment I walked through the front door - well, actually, even before. This heavenly little building has been beautifully converted into a cosy little cafe, and I simply adore it. It is so incredibly warm and inviting.

I was initially hoping only to be able to take a few iPhone shots, but out of a conversation with David came an agreement that I would come back with my camera gear, and take some photographs that I could use for my portfolio, and hopefully, he would be able to put to good use also.

Apart from the fact that it is just so damned cute, it's well worth a visit because the food is delicious, the atmosphere inviting, the service warm and friendly. And as a bonus, Malmsbury is such lovely little township right in the heart of the beautiful Macedon Ranges Shire. It makes for an easy and thoroughly enjoyable day trip from Melbourne.

My camera and I have spent a lot of time exploring this region, especially in recent months. Malmsbury is a really interesting little place. The area is rich in history. The Malmsbury Reservoir is well worth checking out - as is the historic viaduct that sits just below the reservoir. It is an amazing structure, and that alone would make it worth the drive. You really have to see it to appreciate the ingenuity that has gone into building it - and stand underneath it to appreciate it's sheer size. Wow. Oh, and there's also the equally historic Malmsbury Botanic Gardens, which are simply delightful to wander around. They are located by the viaduct, and right beside the Campaspe River. There are some great little shops and art galleries here too.

I have to say a big thanks to David for agreeing to this. I'm happy now, I have my shots of his beloved little business. He's living his dream, and it's a pretty nice dream to have. Thank you, David! I sincerely wish you all the success in the world with your little venture. I hope it takes you on a wonderfully rewarding journey to a richly rewarding and fulfilling life.

Since I shot with both my camera (standard lenses + my beloved Lensbaby gear), and my iPhone (gotta love Hipstamatic!), I've created two separate galleries for some of the images - Camera images here... and iPhone images here.
