"We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal.
We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”
~Deepak Chopra, "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfilment of Your Dreams"
The very day I bought my new Sony A6000 back in January, I got a surprise call from the beautiful Ashley, asking me if I would be willing to shoot at her wedding in April. I excitedly said, yes!
I'm no wedding photographer, and I did have some reservations about it. The only wedding I've ever shot at previously was for my sister, Kelly, and that was way back in 2007. I look back at those photos now and cringe. I had NO idea what I was doing then. I'd just stepped up from a point and shoot camera to a Nikon DSLR, literally two months before. I was clueless, and in hindsight, I never should have agreed to shoot her wedding.
Whilst I certainly didn't nail all the shots I wanted to this time around, I did manage to do at least a better job of it this time. There are certainly things I could have done much better, but with each new experience, you learn and grow. Hopefully, next wedding I do, I will be better at it again.
Which is a good thing, because I'm shooting at a friend's informal wedding in November. A casual affair under a marque at a winery in the Springtime. It's going to beautiful. I'll be getting lots more practice in with the A6000 and the Lensbaby gear between now and then. I'm excited!
In the meantime, this was Ashley & Kieran's special day. More image samples can be viewed in this Gallery.
